Amy’s Baking Company Online Disaster After Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares

By Isabella Sierra

Gordon Ramsay is a Scottish born British chef and restaurateur. He is known for his TV shows as well as highly acclaimed restaurants across the world. He is known for his work on Hell’s Kitchen (2005),  The F Word (2005), Kitchen Nightmares (2007), Master Chef (2011), Master Chef Junior (2014), Hotel Hell (2012), and Gordon Ramsay’s Ultimate Cookery Course (2012). Most of his shows are aired on Television but he does have one season of Ramsay’s Best Kitchen on Netflix.  Ramsay’s success in the U.S. soon led the chef to open his first American restaurant, Gordon Ramsay at The London, in New York. Today, Gordon Ramsay Holdings is a multinational corporation with restaurants around the globe.

Gordon Ramsay has shown an incredible episode of an insane couple while working with Kitchen Nightmares. In 2013, celebrity chef Ramsay went to the failing restaurant for an episode of his reality television show Kitchen Nightmares, which aired on May 10th, 2013. Owners Samy and Amy Bouzaglo blamed their poor business on haters who were commenting on the restaurant’s Yelp page. Some memorable moments of the episode was when the couple admitted to pocketing the wait staff’s tips, admitted to firing more than 100 people, picked a fight with a customer who had been waiting an hour for his pizza and served up pre-made frozen raviolis. The British Chef has walked out the Amy’s Baking Company for the first time in the show’s history.

The Yelp application showed many customers on both sides. Some had positive feedback and others had horrendous comments. Even the happy customers only rated from two to three stars. Most of the customers comment on their amazing dessert, which was the only thing that was complemented by chef Ramsay on the show as well. A guy even tired just taking pictures of the place and they made him leave. But I think that they are trying hard to fix their image because they are even posting pictures with satisfied customers. They have even tried changing their menu toward a healthier lifestyle from pastas and pizzas to sandwiches and salads.

One day prior to the shows airing, a preview was shown on Reddit and the post gained 7,784 votes, 2,966 points overall and nearly 1,000 comments before it was removed from the Reddit and commenting was disabled. On May 13th, someone from Reddit showed a screenshoot of Amy’s Baking Company’s Facebook page. The post gained 9,200 votes, 2,800 points overall and nearly 2,800 comments within 48 hours. On March 14th , two more screenshots were posted from Reddit and each gained more than 1,400 points each. That same day in the evening all three posts and comments had been removed. On May 14th, all of the offending posts had been removed from their Facebook page. The owners left a status update claiming their website as well as all of their social media accounts had been hacked and they would be working with the FBI to track down the perpetrators.

Now a days their Facebook page has 4,334 people like this topic, 807 visits and it has 1.5 stars as rating. They have deleted all the posts and comments on the page and only general information now shows up. The owners have created so much buzz that many newspapers such as Huffington post, Phoenix news, Fox news, and others have written articles and posted videos about this event. It became so big that now Amy and Samy took advantage and are even t-shirts and hats.
