Robert Pattinson, the British, 35-year-old actor has had a long journey to get to one of the most monumental moments in an actor’s career; to play the infamous, ominous, and monetarily successful superhero, Batman.

In his early career, Robert started off in small TV roles, such as in Ring of Nibelungs, and landed a side character gig on his first major feature film, Vanity Fair. From these, his ambitions became grander and he decided to shoot for something that would move him away from daytime cable and land him on the big screen. From his manifestation (and hard work) he landed himself a spot as Cedric Diggory in one the most popular movie franchises to date; Harry Potter, and specifically in the Goblet of Fire. From this point on, Robert thought his acting career was going as well as any actor would dream of. Making his way through the ranks and slowly, but surely, making a bigger name for himself. That was until he landed the most controversial, yet influential role in all of film history; Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga.

This is where most of the movie-goers know him from; the handsome, sappy, and incredibly malnourished vampire. Upon initial release of all three Twilight movies, each one of these films were deemed as being something no person should have to sit through due to their whacky dialogue, strange visuals, and paint-splattered storytelling. Immediately after their release, Robert’s reputation was tainted. Going on a few year drought of doing less work and acting in more independent films was looking like the way his career path was heading. Though, as time went on and more years passed, each Twilight aged like fine wine and audiences ended up loving every ounce of them. They somehow became a collective meme to the Millennial and Gen-Z generations and Robert was being recognized in a more positive light again. This launched him into the spotlight where he ended up starring as lead roles in two highly successful dramas and thrillers: Good Time and The Lighthouse. These two movies showcased how polished and incredible Pattinson was an actor and that he could play more roles other than ones in teen flics.

Come 2022, Robert is set to act in The Batman and play one of the most well-recognized characters in all of film history; Batman. Early screenings have said that this film and Robert’s portrayal of the bat vigilante is one of the best to graze the silver screen. It may be too early to say these things, and also extremely subjective, but this positive publicity will only continue to amplify his name. His path started off bumpy, but Robert is now at an all-time high. Who knows where his next role will be, but speaking on part of all Gen-Z and Millennials, we are only routing for Pattinson and hope his road continues to be smooth.
