For those of us who spend the majority of September and February (S/S and F/W ready-to-wear shows, respectively) glued to our computers, iPads and smart phones awaiting style.com and other social media outlets to provide real time coverage of what our favorite designers have to offer this upcoming season, Moda Operandi is the essential one stop shop. Moda Operandi is the brainchild of Vogue contributing editor and international fashion darling, Lauren Santo Domingo, and Gilt Groupe alum Aslaug Magnusdottir. It is the only luxury e-tailer that hosts trunk shows where customers can order looks (or just a top, a skirt, the choice is yours!) straight from the runway for the upcoming season. Days after falling in love with an outfit Georgia May Jagger or Karlie Kloss strutted down Alexander Wang’s New York Fashion Week runway in this past September, the fashion obsessed were able to pre-order their must haves (or as the Moda girls would say #pre’o the #mustowns.)

Fashion month having just come to a close with Karl Lagerfeld’s brilliant take on “grocery shopping” at Chanel, Moda Operandi is still offering a few more weeks of online trunkshows from an impressive lineup of both emerging and established designers. While other luxury e-tail giants like Net-a-Porter, and ShopBop offer the best of what’s in season, Moda is constantly looking ahead and connecting consumer directly to the designer.

Just before the start of New York Fashion Week in early February, Moda Operandi launched a revolutionary app, making it that much easier for editors, fashionistas, and professional women on the go to “tap and purchase” straight from their smart phones. Busy women can now find next seasons fashion, literally, at their fingertips. Through this app you can favorite certain designers, and receive real time notifications from the runways of New York, London, Milan, and Paris. When you go through the looks from your favorited designers you view them directly from the runway (via a style.com-esque photo), and either check list it, or X it out. Instant notifications then let you know when these items become available for you to hand over your credit card number and pre-order to your hearts desire.

I can’t think of a more addictive way to shop than the model that Moda Operandi has put forth. Ever since I was introduced to the company by friends, I find myself constantly looking through their trunkshows salivating over Olympia Le Tan’s latest fairytale themed book clutches, and Zac Posen’s breathtaking gowns. While unfortunately the price tags to pre’o the latest must own’s from my favorite designers happen to be out of my reach, I can’t wait to enter the working world and perhaps spend my first pay check via “love at first swipe,” using Moda’s new app.
